Practical procedure and troubleshooting notes for Configuring and Managing AD DS Passwords.

  1. In Server Manager, click Tools.

  2. Select Group Policy Management.

  3. Right-click your Domain.

  4. Click Create a GPO in this domain, and link it here...

  5. In the New GPO window, name your password policy.

  6. Right-click the new GPO and select Edit.

  7. Navigate to:
    Computer Configuration → Windows Settings → Security Settings → Account Policies → Password Policy

  8. Configure the password policy options by right-clicking each setting and selecting Properties.

  9. Navigate to:
    Computer Configuration → Windows Settings → Security Settings → Account Policies → Account Lockout Policy

  10. Configure the account lockout policy options by right-clicking each setting and selecting Properties.

You have successfully created and applied a Group Policy Object (GPO) to manage password and account lockout policies across your Active Directory domain.
